Word Search

Score: 0Best: 0

Drag (or tap then tap) from the first letter to the last letter of a word. Words also run backwards.

A word search โ€” word find โ€” is a scanning exercise, not a vocabulary test: the words are all in the list, hidden in eight directions. Drag from the first letter to the last and the word is marked. Three topics (animals, fruit, space) rotate, each with a fresh random layout, so the same puzzle never appears twice.

How to play Word Search

  1. Read the word list under the board.
  2. Press on the first letter of a word and drag to its last letter, in a straight line โ€” horizontal, vertical or diagonal.
  3. Words can be spelled forwards or backwards. Release and the match is highlighted green.
  4. Find all eight words to finish, then try another topic.

Strategy tips

Scan for distinctive letters first โ€” Z, X, K, Q โ€” because there are fewer of them on the board and the eye locks onto them faster than onto vowels. Then check the four corners for word endings: hidden words are packed into a 9ร—9 grid, so most of them start or end near an edge where there is room to run.

Why play it here

No printing, no paper, no app. The grid scales to your phone so the letters stay readable, drag selection works with a thumb, and there is no time pressure โ€” find the words at your own pace, with your best time recorded if you want a target.

Questions

What directions can words go in?

Eight: horizontal, vertical and both diagonals, each forwards or backwards. That is the standard for printed word searches too.

Is there a time limit?

No. The clock only records how long you took so you can compare against your best on this device.

Are the puzzles the same every time?

No. The grid is generated on every new game, so both the layout of the words and the filler letters change.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes โ€” the three topics use short, common words, and there is no timer or failure state. Finding words with a finger is easy even for early readers.
