Snake

Score: 0Best: 0

Swipe anywhere on the board to steer. Arrow keys or WASD on desktop.

The Nokia-era snake, rebuilt for a touch screen. Steering is continuous: keep your thumb on the board and each swipe segment turns the snake the moment you flick, so you can trace a tight spiral without lifting your finger. The board is 20×20, which makes a phone screen show a genuinely readable grid instead of a six-cell-wide sliver.

How to play Snake

  1. The snake moves constantly. Swipe to change direction — you cannot reverse directly into yourself.
  2. Eat the orange dots to grow by one segment and score 10 points.
  3. Every 50 points the snake speeds up slightly.
  4. The round ends when you hit a wall or your own body.

Strategy tips

After the first few dots, stop chasing food directly and start farming the edges: run a wide loop around the outside of the board and let the food come into your path. Long snakes die to dead ends, not to slow reactions, so always keep one route out of a tight corner before you commit to it.

Why play it here

No keyboard required, no frame drops on a mid-range phone, and your best score is remembered between visits. The whole game is one small JavaScript file — it loads before you finish reading this paragraph.

Questions

How do you play snake with touch controls?

Swipe in the direction you want the snake to turn. Short flicks work — the threshold is about a thumb-width. You can keep your finger down and swipe repeatedly to trace a path.

Why does the snake speed up?

To keep a long snake from becoming trivial. Speed increases every 50 points up to a cap, which means the late game is about planning a safe loop rather than reacting.

Can the snake pass through walls?

No — hitting a wall ends the round. Some snake variants wrap around the edges; this one uses the classic rules.

Does it work on desktop too?

Yes. Arrow keys or WASD steer the snake and everything else is identical.
